How far down can I burn my candle?

A good rule of thumb is to leave at least 1/2  inch of wax in the bottom of the jar. This will ensure that the bottom of the jar does not overheat.

Do I need to trim my wicks?

Yes. Prior to lighting your candle each time, always trim your wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This will ensure your candle burns properly and will help to form a thorough melt pool.

Why do I get soot on the jar?

Soot is usually the result of a candle that is not burning efficiently. It can be caused by a wick that is too long or by a draft on your candle. Should you see soot coming from your candle, blow it out and let it cool. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch and try to keep your candle out of a draft.
